KWC Performing Arts offers classes for the beginner who wants to explore musical theatre, or for the advanced student interested in skill-specific study. All instructors are degreed or performing professionals who love to work with kids!

Storybook Theatre

Mondays or Wednesdays

Pre K – Kindergarten

Our youngest students will explore beloved books focusing on storylines, characters and putting a story on its feet! Your child will enjoy fun dance & physical warm-ups and learn to develop vocal confidence with a great group of friends!

Creative Dramatics

Mondays

1st – 3rd Grade

Creative Dramatics is an adventure into theatre where children are guided from individual imaginative play to incredible group fun! Activities include improvisation, storytelling with friends, and character creation. Your child’s language expands, cooperation and observation skills grow, and most of all, there is plenty of laughter!

Disney Dance

1st – 3rd Grade

Come Move and Dance to Classic Disney Music! Perfect for beginners or intermediate dancers, this class will focus on dance styles and techniques from decades of musicals. Join us as we share major choreographers of musical theatre: their history, their style, and their iconic dance combinations.

Musical Theatre Vocal Performance

Beginner/Intermediate       4th – 6th Grade

Students working on musical theatre genres will discover how to develop a character within their piece of music. We will infuse vocal and acting confidence as performers prepare and finish great audition pieces. Accompaniment tracks and copies of music will be provided for each student.

Musical Theatre Vocal Performance

Intermediate/Advanced       7th – 12th Grade

Middle and High School vocalists will come away with great audition pieces while learning to incorporate their chest voice, head voice and blend their passaggio (mix). Develop characters within your vocal pieces and grow confidence as an actor and singer. Accompaniment tracks and copies of music are provided for all students.

Musical Theater/Jazz Dance

4th – 6th Grade

Musical Theatre Dance is a jazz-based class filled with Broadway-style dancing and music. Classes incorporate the style of dance one would typically see on a Broadway stage. This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions while also focusing on having fun.

Children's Theatre Classics

Children’s Theatre Classics is a class where we classic childhood books like Charlie Brown, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland to learn imaginative play! Using activities like improvisation, storytelling with friends, and character creation your child’s language expands, cooperation and observation skills grow, and most of all, there is plenty of fun!

Intro to Improv

3rd – 5th Grade

Discover the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, improve storytelling skills, learn techniques to think quickly on your feet. This spirited, fun course is designed for students who want to learn the essentials of good scenic improvisation or anyone who wants to improve their teamwork or communication skills.  Through coaching, warm-up exercises, creative performance games, and basic short-form scene-work, actors will learn how to be more spontaneous, trusting, and cooperative and how to listen in a fun, creative atmosphere. 

Musical Theatre Dance

Intermediate/Advanced       6th – 12th Grade

Intermediate to advanced dancers will enjoy this class as they explore different styles that are offered in the Musical Theatre world – from the classics of Fosse to the modern dance of Hamilton. Students will be able to express their personalities, improve their technique, tell stories through movement, and have a great time while doing it. Let’s, dance, sweat and, most importantly, have FUN!

Acting for Stage and Film

Work side by side with kids of all ages, university students, and theatre professionals. Learn how camp works by getting to serve on a department team while rehearsing a musical; sell snacks, assist at lunch, join hospitality, or be on the ticket team. By applying to be one of our KidPower Team Members you will receive our KidPower-packed training the week before Camp!
